Location Discussion Travel Adventures Camera Do you know why the beaches along Northwest Florida Gulf coast are so sugary white? Read on to learn... White Sugar Sand Beaches The beautiful white sugary sand beaches that draw millions of visitors every year have a specific reason why they have a bright white look to them. Interestingly enough, other beaches of Florida and on up through the Carolinas look different. So what makes our beaches so special? Destin, Panama city, the beaches of 30A all have a particular reason why they are so irresistible. First let's talk about how the beaches were created. These beaches have been in the process of creation for thousands of years. This is eye opening, but one, might think, well, it just is because it is, but everything has a reason. How it began When large deep slabs of ice that covered North America began to melt after the ice age, large amounts of water flowed down from the Appalachian mountains, it filled basins or lakes and then started streaming down towards the Gulf carrying with it crushed very fine pieces of Quartz minerals. Quartz is an abundant, hard, stable mineral that is composed of Silicone and Oxygen Atoms, is usually colorless and often has a pure, clear appearance. These Quartz minerals were carried all the way down what today is called the Apalachicola River through Florida and in time mixed with tiny fine pieces of shell on the shoreline. This mixture continuously collected and created the beautiful white sand beaches we see today giving the Northwest Florida Coastline t wo unique visible wonders. One is the pristine white color of the sand and also the emerald color of the coastal waters next to it. Proudly called the Emerald coast, the beautiful beaches we see today along the Northwest Florida Gulf coast are nature's beautiful creation over thousands and thousands of years. Our lovely model Emma Gulflily Jewelry It just so happens that I love Crystal Quartz! I would literally dig in my yard as a kid and find the prettiest pieces of clear crystal Quartz, wash them off and keep them. These days, I have been making quite a bit of jewelry lately using clear Quartz. Crystal Quartz is also one of the birthstones of April. All about our Jewelry We've created a place where affordability and Quality unite Our Jewelry is carefully handcrafted using the highest quality materials we can find from reliable sources that we've been using for years! We use 14k yellow and rose Gold-filled findings and wire, and sometimes 14k Gold, usually by custom request. We also use Sterling Silver, Argentium, and some 304-316L Stainless Steel in making some of our designs. All made by hand. For their gold products, some popular companies use what they call,"14k or 18k Gold over brass" , which is just a fancy way of telling you that you are buying Gold plated products. The luster and color of Gold plated products will fade over time usually 6 months to one year, and gold plated products are notorious for causing negative skin reactions for some people that are sensitive to low quality metal jewelry. Our primary metal that we use for our jewelry is yellow or rose Gold filled. Gold filled metal is a good quality product at an affordable price. It is made by placing a thick layer of real gold over a base metal like brass or Silver, making the metal at least 5% real Gold, and that makes it have 100% more real Gold than anything listed as Gold plated. Most Gold filled products don't tarnish and never fade with proper care and cleaning, and are usually well tolerated by those with sensitive skin. We also use Sterling Silver and Argentium. Argentium is newer alloy metal that is made from combining Sterling Silver with the element Germanium. Adding Germanium is intended to give the metal a bright Silver finish, and shine as well as producing an Silver product that is much less likely to tarnish. We are open to Customization requests, so please reach out if you have an idea that best suits you. We work hard to source materials that will make lasting, loved pieces for you, your loved ones and friends, and we will always be transparent as to what you are purchasing. Please let us know how we can assist you in the future in finding your favorite pieces! Argentium anchor How it started Hello, I'm Suzanne! I'm not the kind of person that likes to draw attention to herself, but I will tell you a little about why I started making jewelry. I found myself not wearing jewelry because the expensive pieces I was buying were entirely overpriced, and were sometimes flimsy and would break just as soon as I wore them the first time. The Gold was often hollowed and was weak and would bend. It was just disappointing! They just weren't worth the time and money. I decided to make my own jewelry and I spent countless hours practicing and learning new techniques, acquiring tools and materials that I needed and just practiced! After time passed I made items for gifts for my friends and family as well. Years later, I decided to make a small business out of my passion, so here we are! Welcome! Our ongoing Vision Our ongoing vision is to make Jewelry that is quality, not overpriced, and well loved! As our customer base continues to grow, we are grateful everyday, and do our best to continue to offer loved pieces!
